O Lucky Man! is a satire of commercialism and ambition in a capitalist society. Travis begins the film guided by optimism, ambition and his willingness to do anything to get rich.

O Lucky Man! is a 1973 British comedy-drama fantasy film, directed by Lindsay Anderson as a satirical allegory on life in a capitalist society that has generally been considered a modern variation on Voltaire's Candide.
But "O Lucky Man!" is a kind of unique fantasy story, both masturbatory and culturally significant, because of its fine slow pacing, its quiet story, its rowdy scenes inside of an adult club (Anderson was never too afraid to show nudity and sexual content but, as always, there was a point to it all), and its fantastic music score from the hot and bothered Alan Price and his rocking band.

Like most of his largely fantastic post-Animals work, Alan Price's soundtrack to the 1973 film, O Lucky Man!, went almost completely unnoticed in the United States at the time of its release. It is a shame too, because the soundtrack holds together as one of the best albums Price ever put out.
